The idea behind Kith+Kin stems from growing up in a family heavily involved in the restaurant business. Being surrounded by a variety of different restaurant atmospheres helped me notice the relationship between a restaurant’s brand and its interior design early on - and I have been obsessed with it ever since! This relationship has shaped my design process to where I always keep in mind the environment my work will be seen in. I really dove into this project - thinking of all of the pieces which go into creating a restaurant’s identity. After speaking with some family members and researching what makes popular restaurants in the D.C. area successful, I started the design process.

When it came to picking out the food to be featured on the menu, I put together all of my favorite foods (to an extent). As for the specialty cocktails, I had my family and friends send me their favorites. Yup, you might be featured! I couldn’t forget about the masterminds behind the delicious food, so all chefs and kitchen staff wear an apron with the KITH+KIN 98 logo mark. You’re probably wondering what the significance behind the number 98 is, it was the year I was born! I wanted to make this brand as personal as possible.
